Bio
My name is José Eduardo Marques Carneiro da Silva. I am Brazilian. I graduated in Psychology in 2008 at University Estácio de Sá - Rio de Janeiro. My bachelor graduation dissertation was about learning as formation of concepts. In this work I discourse this process from the point of view of three different areas, the Cognitive Psychology, the linguistics and the artificial intelligence. After the achievement of my bachelor graduation I got interested in research. Then, in 2009 I started my Master's degree in Neuroscience and Cognitive Psychology at the University of Strasbourg. In this occasion I kept my interest by Cognition working in a project with Dr. Astrid Nehlig and Prof. Jean-Christophe Cassel in Strasbourg in which we did a large cognitive and behavioral evaluation in an animal model of absence epilepsy. Then I started a double PhD thesis, one part in University of Strasbourg and the other part at the Federal University of Sao Paulo - Brazil. My thesis work regards the study of a new anti-epileptic drug (Carisbamate) which has very interesting effects when applied in an animal model of temporal lobe epilepsy. We did a large battery of cognitive and behavioral tests in epileptic rats treated with carisbamate. In this study we also did a proteomic study, a quantification of monoamines and aminoacids and a mapping of brain activity during Status Epilepticus.
