Bio
Allen Kent is the pen name I use for my fiction writing, since I also have several academic publications under my given name, Kent Allen Farnsworth. I am a retired community college president and college professor who has been waiting for this time in my life to more actively pursue a life-long passion for writing fiction. Those who have read my academic books ("Leadership as Service" and "Grassroots School Reform") often comment that I am more a story teller than scholarly writer - and my fiction works allow me to expand on that love for telling a great story. I grew up in the western and midwestern U.S., but lived for a number of years abroad - largely in Iran and England - and worked during the latter part of my academic life in Southeast Asia. I am a committed global citizen, and I hope my appreciation for other peoples and cultures is reflected in what I write. My dream has always been to write fiction and now that time permits, that's where I'm committing my writing time. I now live with my wife Holly in rural southwest Missouri where we built and enjoy a very eco-friendly home.
