Bio
Artist, photographer, poet and short /story/childrens writer, Anita was born in Barry, South Wales.
She has a Communications Degree, BA Hons from Glamorgan University and an MA in Creative Writing, from Trinity College Carmarthen. She was first published in 1990 in Leek, the University’s magazine. Anita has written for local newspapers, national magazines and performed her poetry in a variety of venues. Her workshops have developed and become a vehicle for groups and individuals to explore and express themselves in a safe environment.
Anita also facilitates the award winning Breaking Free: An Educational Programme (Understanding The Effects Of Prejudice And Discrimination) in HMP and YOI Parc, where creative writing plays an integral part of the workshops delivered. This resulted in the 2008 House of Angels publication Breaking Free: a dialogue between the inmates of HMP Parc, Bridgend and Harrison Point Prison, Barbados to celebrate 200 years since the parlimentary abolition of the slave trade.
She also enjoys facilitating the written word and readings with the visual arts.
Traveling to Barbados inspired her to start writing her second collection of short stories for The Suitcase.
Anita is collating a childrens, illustrated, educational book called An Angel in my Bath. An Angel in my Bath is a new project for children in schools and the wider community.
