Bio
I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1951. Not long after that birth, my parents knew I was going to grow up to be a writer. At nine months of age I rolled off a youth bed and smacked dead center into a metal toy typewriter left on the floor by my brothers. While stitching me up the doctor told my dad, "You have a future author here!"
We moved to South Florida when I was four and as soon as I knew what a pencil and paper were for--I started the creative process of storytelling and the magic of stringing letters together to form words.
Growing up with four brothers and no sisters I found playing cowboys and Indians was more fun and exciting than Barbie and Ken. When I wasn't capturing one of my brothers and tying them up under a Palm tree, I was writing stories and plays about it.
My first date was at the age of sixteen and I'm still dating the same guy! In fact, I married him. And so began the real adventures of my life that would lead to my writing of riveting, edge-of-your seat romantic suspense and cozies.
My hobbies include kick boxing and researching marketing strategies. I am also fascinated with the process of crime scene analysis and criminal profiling and have used this fascination in one of my novels, Murder By The Book--an amateur female profiler who solves crimes through writing about them in the form of fiction.
Writers who have also inspired me through their determination and superb storytelling techniques are Nora Roberts, Stephen King, and Sue Grafton.
I'm a member of Romance Writer's of America, Mystery Writer's of America, Sisters In Crime, International Thriller Writers and The Author's Guild. I live in Sebring, Florida with my husband of 35 years where I'm employed as a residential community manager. My debut novel, TROPICAL WARNINGS, is due out in December 2006 by Five Star Books. Excerpts of this and my other works can be found on my website: http://www.authoraprilstar.com/.
