Bio
My education was earned at UAB in the Dept.of Anthropology where I began to concentrate more in the discipline of archaeology While in graduate school. I studied indigenous plant use for wellness in Mexico , working alongside other graduate students at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa and travelled extensively throughout the country visiting major archaeological sites along the way. With a strong background in Southeastern USA, I worked across the south & southeast from South Florida to Texas north to Indiana.
This education has influenced my artwork over time and has become part of who I am.
I also am a silversmith, having learned the trade from a Navajo silversmith when i was 17
I have worked as a scientific illustrator, using my skills in art over the years doing work for several departments in a few universities as well. I've also worked as an illustrator of products and designs. I design all my own silver work and jewelry.
I love creating in many areas of Art, and am a hopeless out of the box thinker experimenting as work to devise and develop new techniques and combinations of methodologies.
I make my own cards and packaging designs .
Some of my favorite activities include swimming, hiking , gardening, cooking, climbing, sketching, and Photography
I have 2 dogs
I'm in the process of trying to figure out how to market my skills in today's new social media market, so please wish me luck.
I also picked up bird watching from my father who was a lifelong birder & a member of the Boy Scouts. That’s where he initially learned about the field of ornthology and followed his interest with the National Audobon Society throughout his life. He had a great deal of influence on my love of nature and urged me to keep learning. and keep moving throughout life. Birds somehow manage to find their way in many of my art works as a result.
