Bio
Jerome Washington, is a native of West Michigan. Throughout his life, this husband of one wife and father of seven children and has enjoyed capturing people’s best side through his artwork. Whether it’s showing their funny side through caricatures or portraits of a child or adult. Washington’s’ creations are one-of-a-kind works of art that are treasured by his subjects.
His unique work has led him to be the commissioned artist for District Libraries, Children’s’ Museums, Schools, Right to Life of Michigan and to be hired to create caricature posters of Civic leaders during their Discover Campaign. He was also the artist-in-residence for an 18×35′ city mural project which exposed children of the Local Youth Power program and the Irish Hills Girl Scout council to Art.
Moreover, Washington has a Greeting Card line that provides cards with special notes featuring children, which can also be customized with the any image or portrait.
He travels throughout the Midwest region to do artwork, portraits in schools, libraries, museums, festivals and to create exhibit with his artwork as well as. His works are created with the use of water color, ink, charcoals and pastels.
“I enjoy drawing people particularly children because, I think it helps them to focus on the positives’ in their lives instead of the negative. In my many years of drawing people I’ve noticed it brings a little sunshine in their lives when they see themselves on paper or canvas.”
