Bio
I am a writer, author, English teacher, artist, the mother of three sons, owner since 1991 of my business, Artmakers & Wordfinders. I have led two Wordfinders writing groups, one for seven years; and three seminars on The Artist's Way. A lifework creator and life-long learner, I have taught English and Art from middle school through freshman college, exhibited and sold my paintings, and followed my works-in-progress, "Wildrose," and "My Blue Heaven," into graduate studies as a teaching assistant at Florida State University, where I earned my Master's Degree in English with a Concentration in Writing, in 1984. My education began at Wesleyan College for Women in Macon, Ga.; continued with an AB degree at Georgia State College in Atlanta, and many education courses leading to Teacher Certification, for six years of public school teaching.
The height of my education came at Florida State University, where I taught two freshman courses--English Literature and Composition, and took all necessary courses to earn my Master's Degree, as well as graduate level courses in Art History and Studio Art. After that, I taught Art History and English at then-Brunswick College, from 1984 until about 1992. While researching and writing on "Wildrose", I was granted four fellowships at Hambidge Center for the Arts in Rabun Gap, Ga., and two at Ossabaw Island Arts Colony. Those arts colony months and my college and university times have brought me contact with the most wonderful kind of people: intelligent, creative, productive, generous and self-motivated. Since about 1986, I have attended the workshops of Rosemary Daniell in Savannah, called Zona Rosa, where I have found invaluable support, friendships and the editorial advice of a dedicated poet and author, Ms. Daniell.
