Bio
Welcome to my day-to-day journey as a rawfoodist. That's the popular term anyway. I like to think of myself as an intelligent human being who is simply interested in evolving.
Eating live food just make sense to me. It makes me feel better than I've ever imagined I could feel when I was eating depleted cooked foods.
Though I am enthusiastically pursuing this new way of consumption, my journey is in its infancy. I know I cannot turn back, but along the way I hit speed bumps and am forced to confront myself on a daily basis. Because as you've probably read and experienced yourself, food and eating is connected to spiritual, emotional and physical wellbeing.
When I'm feeling good and my life is going as I want it to, eating live food is cinch and feels like second nature. However, when life's lessons come, as they always do, and I'm struggling to get through a moment, eating live is not as easy at this stage in the game. In these moments comfort foods call my name in the sweetest, most enticing whisper.
I know my body is still purging and my cells are in the process of evolving as well. So I tell myself patience and just BE in the now.
When I first embarked on this journey, I lived in Los Angeles, California - land of the health conscious. Raw food was everywhere. If I didn't feel like preparing food for myself, I could get in my car, take a short drive and as celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse says "BAM", I had what I wanted.
While in Los Angeles, I also started my own business as a raw-food chef called Back -2- Live. During the month it was opened, I experienced great success. But I soon learned that a one-woman team wouldn't cut it. So I set out to learn more, in an environment I thought would be more conducive to a raw-food lifestyle - Punta Gorda Belize.
Although I am closer to the sun and am in paradise, being a vegetarian, let alone an emerging rawfoodist is challenging. On a daily, I am faced with various challenges, some of which I overcome, some of which I don't.
Thus the reason for The Living Lowdown - a blog dedicated to reporting the sometimes raw truth of my metamorphosis. You'll experience the good, the bad and the ugly right alongside me.
