Bio
Having written prose and stories since the third grade, Bart combines his creative gifts with a strong desire to educate himself and others about the oneness of humanity. “My life’s mission,” he says, “is to use the written and spoken word to assist others on their paths of self-knowledge, transformation and service.”
In his early adulthood, he moved to Israel where he engaged in volunteer service for almost two years. Following this he joined forces with a company that led social-tourism excursions throughout Russia, Siberia and Ukraine. He would go on to travel to another twenty countries.
Returning to the U.S. he entered the publishing industry; serving as national marketing director and later, as general manager of operations for a U.S. niche publisher.
During this same time, he served on the board of Africa's Children's Fund, a private non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Atlanta, Georgia. He recalls two peak experiences from that time: One, meeting the people on the ground in Nigeria who dedicated their lives to serving children and families through the foundation and two, having the honor of attending the 50th wedding anniversary of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu and Mrs. Leah Tutu in Johannesburg, South Africa.
In 2008, Bart was hired by CNN where he worked almost nine years in the international newsroom, headquartered in Atlanta, GA. In 2017 he and his wife Dilsey relocated to Durham, NC to be closer to family where they are now raising their daughter, son.
Bart is currently writing a historical novel set in 13th century Yoruba (Nigeria). He has spent many years researching the story and is excited to see it coming to fruition. Bart considers himself a seeker of truth and strives to be of greater service to others by applying what he sees as eternal spiritual principles to his daily life.
