Bio
After competing a successful career in science and engineering, my focus shifted to expressing my feelings and interests in paintings. What had begun many years earlier as a hobby became a daily passion upon retirement. My surroundings, my friends, and my travel experiences, all influence my art.
My paintings are of scenes and situations that make me think- such as abandoned buildings in the country that were once someone’s livelihood and pride, old cars and trucks, an old dog-- scenes that are quickly disappearing from view. I am especially intrigued by quirky things that catch my eye- a barn settling into its surroundings, a funky fruit stand, a rattletrap old truck meandering down a country road- scenes reminiscent of the past that spark a creative desire to capture it on canvas.
I enjoy painting images I see all around the North Alabama-Southern Tennessee area where I live, as well as scenes from all over the world. My paintings of pets, people, buildings, landscapes, unique and surprising sights are inspired by my travels. France, Italy, China, Spain, Great Britain and my own backyard have inspired original works of art.
Wherever I am, I find inspiration for my work in scenes that cause me to pause and reflect on the lives of those living there. I live and paint in North Alabama when I’m not traveling the world with my camera and my wife.
