Bio
Nerissa Street is a multiple award-winning arts educator and storyteller based in South Florida. She's a two-time SXSW speaker and was the only woman selected to present at the inaugural TEDxMIA in 2010. Her partners in storytelling include: Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Human Services Coalition (Catalyst Miami), Miami Dade Chamber of Commerce, The Frank Gallery, South Miami Dade Cultural Arts Center, Edna Manley School of Performing and Visual Arts, Centers for Spiritual Living, Broward County Libraries, the Broward County Cultural Division, Artspace USA, Code Fever Miami, Universal Foundation for Better Living, Office Depot Foundation, Family Literacy Arts Program, the Artist as Entrepreneur Institute, the Motherhood Foundation and the Women's Media Center, the Education Fund, the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood, Pirtle Construction Company, Images and Voices of Hope and the globally recognized South by Southwest EDU Conference. Her work has been funded by the National Educators Association, Florida Department of Cultural Affairs, the Broward Housing and Urban Development office and the Broward County Board of Commissioners. She is the inaugural Immersive Filmmaking Artist-in-Residence for Artserve in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
