Bio
When I was a kid, I used to clip and save examples of great writing, from newspapers and magazines and even the occasional library book. (Shhh.) Sometimes it was the story that enchanted me. Sometimes it was a perfectly crafted sentence. Sometimes it was a metaphor, a quote, even a haiku: "Hut burns down, now I can see the moon." I stored them all in an old dented blue cookie tin and carried that tin around for years, wherever I moved: high school outside Boston, college, New York City, D.C., Trenton (yikes), New York again and beyond... if the piece of writing was compelling enough, I called it a Blue Tin Story, saved it and crammed it into the chockablock full tin, pressing the lid down hard until it closed.
Today, I am a writer who works in three worlds: literary/creative, journalism and corporate. Everyday I voraciously read content across all three. Some days it's hard to find a piece of writing you want to stop and revel in. Other days, they're everywhere. I decided to keep them here, to memorialize and share. Welcome to my virtual blue tin. Sit back. Relax. Read and savor.
