Bio
I grew up in a very small town in north florida, where potlucks were abundant. After high-school, I went to a community college and got a degree in dental hygiene, so that I would have the opportunity to work part time when I had children. My fiance and I moved to Orlando, Fl, which is further south than we had lived before, yet much less southern, and much more Spanish and midwestern. Shortly after our move to Orlando, my fiance and I eloped to Gatlinburg Tennessee for a beautiful private mountain top wedding. We had been engaged for 4 years and had been dating for 8 years. Yes, we are each other's first everything. While living here in Orlando , I have gained lots of hispanic influence which has greatly improved my cooking. I later went on to pursue a bachelor's degree in dental hygiene, and continued to work until I gave birth to my little boy. I stayed at home with him for the first three months, and then reluctantly decided to go back to work. I hired a good friend's mother as his private nanny, and sadly went to work for three days a week. It was without doubt, the saddest day of my life. That was Jan 2008 and I managed to last until August, when I decided to take every measure possible to be able to stay at home with my little one. I researched the web for different money saving strategies to pinch pennies wherever possible. My husband was and still is in a doctorate of physical therapy program, and he was able to persuade his employer to pay for his educational expenses. It was the happiest day of my life when I decided to be a stay at home mom. Since I have been home and not working long days, I have had the time and energy to make homemade food everyday. I realized eating out and convenience foods were wasting much more money than I thought and making us very unhealthy.
My website is wholly designed, written, and maintained by me, with the help of my old Mac, Adobe Creative Suite, a vintage canon AE-1 SLR and web tutorials. I liked the idea of a rooster as a logo because he is a symbol of strength and beauty. We always had chicken growing up, with a protective beautiful rooster to watch over the hens.. I have very little experience in computers, I am sure it shows, but wanted a new creative outlet.
In the future I hope to continue to grow my website, my family, and my cooking expertise. We also hope to move north, back to the south upon my husbands graduation.
