Bio
Professionally, Martin Long is sales consultant (Sales Team Architect), specializing in rebuilding sales organizations and, for startups, in architecting them right the first time.
Martin is a full stack sales professional, having sold through all channels (inside sales, direct, resellers, distributors, agents, franchising, OEM and licensing), done deals of all sizes, domestically and internationally. He has hired and trained successful teams.
Multiple times Martin has been the first sales person to figure out the sale, then operationalize it. He’s closed the first anchor deals (major partners, or $1 million+ sales) for multiple startups. He was the software sales person of the year for Sun Microsystems (now Oracle).
Martin is an active startup mentor and has several patents to his name.
Additionally, Martin is an involved citizen based in the Boston area. He was born in Chicago, studied Political Science and Computer Science at the University of Illinois, and has a graduate degree in Government from the London School of Economics. He traveled extensively in Eastern Europe before the fall of the Berlin wall. In 2013 Martin was an independent (running as a Democrat) candidate for Congress in Massachusetts’ 5th. Martin has served on the Lexington School Committee and as a Town Meeting Member.
