Bio
BRAC Uganda started its operations in 2006, to contribute to poverty reduction and
support women and the youth. There are currently programmes operating in
Microfinance, Agriculture, Food Security, and Livelihood, Health, Education, Early
Childhood Development, Youth Empowerment, Emergency Preparedness and
Response, and Ultra-Poor Graduation.
BRAC Uganda works in 113 districts across the country with 163 branches of the BRAC
Uganda Bank Ltd, and 101 branches of the BRAC Uganda NGO.
The organization’s operations in Uganda have grown to 159 branches
across 80 districts. BRAC Uganda now has more than 213,072 microfinance members
and 102 branches of the small enterprise programme. The Ultra Poor Graduation
programme provides assets to young people facing financial hardship and trains them
to improve their livelihoods and achieve their economic and social goals, thus lifting
themselves out of extreme poverty.
