Bio
I am Brie.
A 23 year old girl in Missoula Montana just wondering…
I wonder what it means to be fulfilled, what “happiness” I should strive for, and if I should go the “responsible” route by which I mean become gainfully employed at a mainstream workplace that I cannot say I love. Paying my bills and doing this day in, day out, because the majority of society- and, let’s face it; my father- says that this is the way, expect this.
Yet, sometimes, I can’t help feeling that there is more, so much more. I know it’s there. There is another way. Scarier, maybe, because the masses do not do it. It is not what most of us have grown up believing to be “the way”. There may even be guilt associated with diverging onto this alternate path in life.
We are taught that you get a good job, you work and earn a decent living. Perhaps you go to school and get a career and then you start a family and you retire..This is all good and well if you are happy.
But what if you aren’t?
What if you, too, have that feeling, that thirst for more?
I do not believe that we need to work a job that we dislike, making someone else money for their dream, in order to be “successful”. In fact, even just thinking this and reading it makes me laugh-for it is, in fact, the exact opposite.
Some may call me a bum, a hippy, lazy…but I will live my dream.
And my focal point will not be money, nor fitting in. I will pursue the things that make my soul sing. I will chase those things that make me a peaceful pillar amid a racing world. I will pass these things to my son and others whom touch my life.
And I am afraid.
I live in a society where the “alternative” lifestyle that I yearn for is frowned upon. I am a part-time student, a full-time mother, and still feel like such a young girl inside trying to figure which path, which direction we should go…What if I fail?
I once heard a saying that goes something like this; If you are excited and scared about what you are doing, you can be certain that you are on the right path.
and so
I will enjoy the adventure.
