Bio
A Contemporary Oil Painter based in Eastbourne, East Sussex ; I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. At seven years old I moved with my family to Tokyo, Japan. At sixteen years old I moved with my family to London, Uk.
I’ve travelled extensively and have worked in several creative industries (including fashion, set design, jewellery, and textiles) for a while, but I ended up doing a BTEC foundation in art and design which led me to realise that I wanted to be a painter, as I found it the most challenging creative pursuit.
I’ve exhibited widely in the UK as well as internationally and have been shortlisted for numerous awards, including winning Brighton Artist of the Year in 2004. I painted Europe’s first Rainbow Pedestrian Crossing in Brighton in 2014, and in 2013 my work was selected by author Neil Gaiman for the book A Calendar of Tales.
I am eternally receptive to and inspired by the aesthetic of Wabi Sabi or ‘the beauty of imperfection and I love to mix paint mediums and play with the effects. This can be the most exciting part of the creative process: watching for the unfathomable splendors that emerge from the chaos of experimental technique.
