Bio
Candice Olive is the middle child of a large and mixed family, which throughout much of her childhood included the unwanted and abused children of Sydney’s foster care system and about thirty animals of various types (Don't ask.)
The result of a quirky and eccentric upbringing in the suburbs of Sydney’s west, her interest in writing began with the works of Anne Rice and Edgar Allen Poe, whom she idolised through much of her early writing practice. Candice’s writing was transformed through extensive tertiary study and now reflects her love of crime fiction. She is an Honours graduate of the University of the Sunshine Coast, a Masters student of the University of Queensland, and a practicing university and high school teacher. In 2012, Candice hopes to pursue her studies into a PhD in English Literature, focussing on the alter ego as a narrative device for explorations of mental illness, cultrally-constructed conceptions of evil, psychopathy etc (The idea is still in the oven, baking until golden brown).
Her forth novel, 'Dark Creatures' is to be published by Nemesis Publishing, in the Isle of Man, in the near future. The novel delves into the perilous backstreets, sprawling cities and vast suburban wastelands of her youth and follows the paths of some pretty corrupted characters. A synopsis is available in the blog.
Candice lives on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, with her husband Carl and her cat James McNuggit, as well as a grissly housemate named Nick who corrects her on everything.
