When it all began
I was about 10 years old when I developed an interest in candles. My grandmother took me on a trip to Solvang. "The old Danish town"
Danish food, culture, entertainment, and a rendition of the early 90's off-Broadway musical forever plaid was playing in the local outdoor theatre and of course my families absolute favorite pastime shopping! Everyone had their own agenda but Grandma thought it best to shop together. I was intrigued by the colors and architecture of the little Danish town. The cobbled stone pavement, the half-timbered shops, the gothic lamppost!
After passing a festively dressed manikin I decided that I couldn't leave without a pair of clogs. In my search for clogs I was captivated by a small white candle shop. The building seemed a little out-of-place it was shaped almost like a church.
Walking through the glass doors I was immediately enchanted with pleasant aromas. There were so many shapes and colors it was like walking around an art gallery! I left with a candle in the shape of a teddy bear. I forgot all about those clogs. I kept the teddy bear for years without burning it often looking at it and wondering how it was made. I don't remember much else about the trip but that is when my passion for candles flikr'd!
