Bio
I registered as a tourist guide in October 2010.
I have been conducting tours in the Western Cape province and am currently in the process of planning to do tours to Russia during our winter season in Cape Town.
I have been doing primarily my own tours but have also worked as a freelance guide for other companies during the peak seasons.
Working as a freelance guide has really made me aware of the great passion I have developed for the job. I always want to do more and go out of my way to show tourists as much as I can, but this has often got me into trouble when working for other companies, as they usually do "shortcuts" and only allow for a rigid itinerary to be followed.
I, therefore, perform better working for myself doing private tours, as I continually adapt the itinerary to suit the tourist's interests, the more I get to know them during the tour.
Another factor to the advantage of my guests is that I am not bound by time like most tourist guides are. For instance, I love to take people for sundowners at the end of a tour or to see the sunset. This contributes to tourists feeling relaxed and having a good time.
