Bio
Two of my grandparents were 1st-generation Americans. My maternal grandfather's parents came from the area near Fano, Marche, Italy (along the Adriatic Sea). My paternal grandmother's parents came from Athea, Co. Limerick, Ireland. My Colbert roots go deep into Cooraclare, Co. Clare; my Houlihan roots go into Middle Beale, Co. Kerry. My paternal grandfather's roots are in Co. Offaly and Co. Kilkenny. On my mother's mother's side, I have Danish heritage -- my ancestors were from the Duchy of Slesvig (now part of northern Germany).
I originally DNA-tested in 2006 with NatGeo, then in 2012 with 23andMe, and Ancestry. DNA testing allowed me to break the "brick wall" and find the likely parents of my great-great grandmother, Libby (Copple) Englehart. Her ancestors have been on this continent since the mid-1700s.
