Bio
Ira Chernus is Professor Emeritus of Religious Studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder. After many years writing and lecturing about American political culture from the perspective of an historian of religions, he turned to his retirement project: "In the Words of Walt Whitman," a thematic anthology composed from the verses and sentences of his favorite poet.
