Bio
Hi! My name is Jessy. I have been a professional dog trainer with my own business for over 6 years. I have worked with over 3,000 dogs in the Portland metro area, and I have had my own training facility. I have worked with puppies, aggressive and anxiety behaviors, as well as senior dogs.
I started out with working for dog walking companies with just my phone, and I figured out how to make a comfortable income by just doing that alone.
Boy, have I been through a journey of growing it! I learned a LOT through my own trial and errors, and I can honestly say that I did it with my own drive to do so. I have learned from many of those mistakes to construct the most helpful ways of working with a variety of dog personalities as well as how to run my own business most efficiently. And hopefully now, you won’t have to! I want to be able to guide you how to become a successful dog trainer, just like myself, as I tell you the do’s and don’ts of the business.
My past:
I used to work at a business office for a medical clinic for over 7 years. I was also working another job as a barista for a coffee company that I worked over for 11 years at, at the same time. Just like everyone else, I became a workaholic because I felt I had to in order to pay the bills and, well, survive.
I worked over 65 hrs. a week back then and now I work 40-50 LESS hours than I used to AND I make 4 times as much money as I used to with two jobs! It’s helped me pay off ALL my bills and now my husband and I get to spend all of that quality time with our daughter.
I love my job so so much! I have helped hundreds of families as they fell in love with their progressively happy dog, and I feel confident their dogs are now in their forever home.
Okay, enough about me. Let’s get down to the nitty gritty of this, shall we?
I do have a business degree and took quite a bit of communication courses in college (which helped A LOT in preparing myself to own my own business). With that being said, you don’t have to go to college to do this. You can easily google and practice “socializing skills” (you will be doing a LOT of talking as a trainer, but don’t let that scare you as you will get use to it).
