Bio
INTRODUCTION:
Hello. I am a 42 year YOUNG Christian woman that has decided to go back to college after 20 + years. I needed to find a college and career that will best fit my desires and needs. My learning style is visual and I like to work alone so this program really meets that style. I am a full-time housewife and college student at the present time.
I love to study and teach God's word or teach anything anyway that I can. I have been teaching in church since I was 15 years old. I later began teaching and directing in Christian Preschools and Head Start. I have my CDA (Child Development Associates Certificate). But this just didn't seem to be enough education for me. I had a great desire to get a teaching certificate with a BA in Early Childhood and Social Science. I am currently enrolled in Ashford University College trying to complete this degree after transferring from a two year community college. I love website designing and so I have created a free website for us Ashford students to trade, buy or sell our used text books with each other without having to sift through other colleges and books. It is called College Mom Trading Post. http://collegemomtradingpost.com
I have seven blogs that I maintain besides that one. I play the piano and sing on the worship team at church as one of my hobbies and I stay busy volunteering whenever possible.
I have been married to since 1985 and I have one son & one daughter. Me, Jamie, my 16 year old son, and Patrick all live at home, while my older daughter of 21 is off to college and pursuing God wherever He takes her. She just got married this February to a wonderful Christian guy. I am so excited and sad at the same time.
I hope to one day work with as an online teacher because I am disabled and most other jobs I am not able to perform at this time. That is why I chose to attend an online college. I can do my school work at any time that I feel like it and I do not have to attend a classroom environment and follow their schedule. I would also like to be a teacher at Ashford University on day. I also have a love for two other subjects that I may pursue as my long term goals. They are Behavior Psychology and Nutrition for children.
Two Food Service Director Jobs have just fallen into my lap in the past which sparked a love for nutrition and the CACFP program (Child and Adult Care Food Program). I am starting with the education degree and then on to what ever else God leads me to. I am about to take a big test that will give me the title of Food Nutrition Specialist (FNS). This is a title that you can get before you earn the Nutritionist title. I am excited about that and I just started a new part time job as a Food Service Director for another Christian Daycare that I hope I can do along with going to college. See you in class.
God bless,
College Mom
