Bio
Aidan Isaac Cooney graduated summa cum laude in 2014 from Arizona State University with a Bachelors in Sustainability, a minor in Justice Studies and a certificate in Human Rights. He is largely self taught in video production. He plans to use this ever-growing knowledge base to feed his life-long passion to be a filmmaker in order to help the global discourse steer towards true sustainability. He believes global awareness and human synergy are key to transforming current socially constructed systems to ones that are willing to support universal human rights and environmental regeneration.
His first film, a collaborative student sustainability film named Garden City, was nominated for a Student Emmy.
MaLinda LaVonn Zimmerman-Cooney has a concurrent Bachelor in Global Health and a B.I.S. in Business and Psychology from Arizona State University. Her hero is Mother Theresa. Since she was little she has wanted to help the marginal and pauperized people of the Earth. Most emphatically, her dream is to work with indigenous communities around the world and study the health effects of globalization, all while promoting human, cultural and indigenous rights. She has an eye for photography, an ear for music, and a passion to save the world.
MaLinda & Aidan will be serving in Togo, Africa with the Peace Corps, leaving June 6th, 2016!!!
Our philosophy lies fundamentally in hope and solidarity. Together, globally, we can create a world of true sustainability, one which embraces universal human rights and environmental regeneration. We are all connected by our common fragility and vulnerability. Each of us is dependent on and has a natural right to a healthy and peaceful environment for current and future generations. We must respect each other and the ecosystems we are apart of if we are to live in harmony with each other and nature. Organizational synergy on all levels of society is vital to the efficiency of a global system working towards our common goal of true sustainability. All people are equal in rights, voice, representation and accountability with regard to the management and governance of the global commons.
We can choose a different path for our species. We must choose a different path.
Our mission is to nurture a necessary paradigm shift in support of global sustainability and universal human rights through educational documentary filmmaking that challenges social norms and the systems that support structural violence.
