Bio
Spence Fisher is a contemporary artist living and working in what is known as New Mexico. His work is part of a dialogue which critiques our capitalist system and assimilation culture. Fisher delves into perpetual social othering, including bullying, “smalling” and shaming, while also investigating the rights/agencies of non-humans and land. He is curious about “orientation” to place, class, labor, religion and the state. In Fisher's work he emphasizes color, the individual hand and deliberate accessibility through using everyday materials (acrylics, house paint, pencil, found objects, scrap paper, photography and wood). He also plays drums if anyone is looking to start a band.
