Matthew 22:37-40
37Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ c 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ d 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Now, look into your mind's eye. Imagine someone living those commandments all day. Imagine them failing but continuing. Imagine that they have a beautiful wife, two beautiful daughters and a little boy on the way. Imagine that they square off every day against ignorance and apathy while simultaneously staring down greed and fear. (This person is a teacher, of course.) Imagine they like Beverly Hills Cop, theology, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and thinking about a whole lot of different things and talking about these things to a lot of different people.
