Bio
Daniele Di Mitri is Research Group Leader at EduTec group at DIPF Leibniz Institute for Research and Information in Education. Previously postdoctoral researcher in Artificial Intelligence at the Centre of Actionable Research of The Open University CAROU. Daniele holds a BSc degree in Computer Science from the University “Aldo Moro” of Bari (2014) and an MSc degree in Artificial Intelligence from Maastricht University (2016). His background encompasses a set of diverse experiences. At the age of 19, Daniele founded Dimstudio, web development company. He was activist and member of the board of two European NGOs active in the field of lifelong learning and education. In 2015, he took part in the Extreme Blue excellence research programme at IBM Amsterdam. Daniele received his PhD title at the OUNL (2016-2020) in Learning Analytics and Wearable Sensors Support. His PhD project, the Multimodal Tutor, investigates the potentials of collecting and analysing multimodal during physical interactions for automatic feedback and human behaviour analysis. He received the Martin Wolpers Award as best PhD project in the field of Technology-Enhanced Learning 2018. In his PhD took part in different European projects as LACE, WEKIT, SafePAT. He is member of the CrossMMLA Special Interest Group of the Society of Learning Analytics Research and he is the chair of the Learning Analytics Hackathon (LAKathon) series. He is part of the programme committee of AIED, LAK, EC-TEL, jTELSS and reviews for various educational technology journals such as JCAL, ICALT, IJAIED, JLA, BJET.
