Bio

I am a novelist, essayist, teacher, and screenwriter, born in New York City. I received my MFA in Fiction from the University of California at Irvine, and I was a Wallace Stegner Fellow at Stanford University. I am the author of six novels, most recently THE ERRAND BOY (Three Rivers Press). Soon to be released by Green Writers Press is my newest novel, an edgy YA fantasy, POLLY AND THE ONE AND ONLY WORLD. I have received grants for my fiction from the Vermont Council on the Arts and from the National Endowment of the Arts. My stories, essays, and reviews have appeared in many publications, including the Paris Review, Penthouse, the Los Angeles Times, and the New York Times Sunday Magazine. I live in northern Vermont.
