Bio
I am a taxi driver in Dallas by choice. I have worked in the corporate world all of my life and I chose not to continue down that road. I like driving a taxi and I had considered Uber. I am happy with my decision not to drive for Uber. If you are an honest person driving a taxi in Dallas, you cannot make it driving a SUV for Uber. If you do not want to contribute to the corruption at the hotel valet, you cannot make money driving a $55K SUV. The City of Dallas has an ordinance that says drivers cannot bribe business's or solicit. This ordinance is not enforced in Dallas. The passengers are lied to when they come out the door to leave. So many times passengers have told me that they have to argue with the valet in order to get a taxi. Taxi stands are out of view and valet tells the passengers that a taxi cost the same as a limo. The transportation industry rewards corruption and greed. Since there are so many illegal companies, individuals providing transportation to visitors and residences, Dallas lacks the resources to police this and also does not appear to be interested.
