Bio
She, Her
My family has lived in Doylestown since early 1890 when my grandfather, JB Stratton (a veteran of the Civil War) arrived here with his wife Lily and their children. I sit here in our living room writing this piece inside the same house where my father was born, where my five siblings were raised and where my father died. Both he and my mother gave us a sense of pride and dignity for the legacy of our African American-Native American-and European ancestral legacy.
The Bucks Underground Railroad first debuted in mid-2009 where I posted this same blog on the progressive citizen journalist website “One if by Land”. Before this site closed at the end of 2013 my posts stayed true to Pointing the way to freedom. I wrote either about voting; local to global politics; the environment; religion; films; books; television; family; veterans; the criminal justice system; or civil rights for women and people of all colors. I saved all those posts and brought some of them forward to the Archive link for you Dear Reader to read at your leisure.
Current Interests
I speak to groups about the Underground Railroad. 'Out From Slavery' is a journey that begins on the African continent and ends in Freedom.
I'm a member of Doylestown Borough's Human Relations Commission. I handle press relations for the Maasai Cultural Exchange Project, the Central Bucks-Central Bucks West H,S. Hall of Fame and a member of the League of Women Voters, Bucks County.
