Bio
Evan Douthit, the Editor, edited and published the monthly Central America News Update from August 1983 to December 1989 and Latin America News Update from January 1990 to December 1995. He has taught more than 130 course sections from 100 to 400 level in College or University, primarily History, but also Political Science, Philosophy, Popular Culture and Globalization. He reads Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, Russian, Polish, Czech, Arabic, Latin, Greek, Breton and Gothic. He has M.A.'s from the University of Chicago in East European Area Studies, Slavic Linguistics, and International History. He has spent almost half of the last eight years in Brazil, in particular researching the parallels between the Weimar Republic of Germany (1918-33) and the Republica Velha of Brazil (1899-1930). He has also traveled in Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, Ireland, England, Wales, Poland and Russia and Ukraine.
