Bio
My name is Dee Ann Tickner, and I am thrilled to be returning L’il Scholars preschool for the 2011-2012 school year. I feel that God has directed me my entire life to work with children and I feel that teaching the 4-year-old class this year is no exception.
I graduated from Winthrop University in 1993 with a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education. In 1995, I graduated from Clemson University with my Master’s degree in Elementary Guidance and Counseling. From there, I first worked as an elementary school guidance counselor in Spartanburg, SC and then, at Breckinridge Elementary here in Botetourt County. When my son, Colin was born, we decided as a family, that I should stay home with him. I was a stay-at-home mom with Colin as well as with my daughter Gabriella. During that time, I have substituted for Botetourt County and in 2009, I began working for L’il Scholars Preschool.
My husband and I met when we were at Clemson University and have been married for 14 years. My husband, Dave, works as the Town Manager for Fincastle. We have two beautiful children. Colin is nine and is in the fourth grade at Breckinridge. Gabriella is five and has just begun kindergarten at Breckinridge.
I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher this year. Preschool is a big step for children, and it is my philosophy that preschool is not only for learning colors, letters, and numbers, but also to teach children a love for school. My hope is that your child will wake up each school morning excited and ready for preschool. Please know that your child is important to me and if you ever have concerns about your child, you are welcome to call, text or e-mail me at anytime. I look forward to a wonderful school year with your child.
