Bio
Fourth-generation confectioner and chocolatier, with particular skills in sugar arts (pouring, pulling, spinning, blowing). Have trained several pastry chefs and students of patisserie. Have created poured pedestals for many that were used as centerpieces at special events and as displays for pastries and candies. Have spoken before several private and student groups about the “lost arts” of candy making and sugar techniques. Possess large collection of recipes and techniques dating to pre-Victorian era. Wine connoisseur.
I am a mother of two sons, grandmother to two, and married to the most wonderful man in the world. My background is strongly rooted in law and medicine, and I am a confirmed conservative thinker. That's not merely a political statement, but an insight as to how I live my life. With strong Scottish roots, I believe in thrift, candor, cooking entirely from "scratch", canning every thing I can, verbosity, laughter, and Lagavulin (neat). I'm also make "Americanized" Haggis yearly for the annual Burns Nite celebration.
