Bio
As an experienced educator, dancer, and consultant, I cherish the body as a primary medium for learning throughout the course of human development. The somatic awareness and creative arts practices of Tamalpa Life/Art (Anna Halprin and Daria Halprin), Continuum Movement (Emilie Conrad and Elaine Colandrea), and Vipassana meditation (Spirit Rock Meditation Center) deeply inform my work. My on-going research about the impact of movement on child and adult development in the Mind, Brain and Education program at Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE), among other places, also shapes my teaching and learning. For the past 7 years, I have supervised graduate students in Lesley University’s Self-Designed Master’s Degree Program, and have served on the Board of Directors of the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association (ISMETA). My most recent teaching joys include weekend workshops in New York and Massachusetts, as a faculty member of Tamalpa Institute, and a Special Topics Seminar called “Mind, Body, Being: Contemplative Practices for Educators” at HGSE.
