Bio
We, Wayne Ren-Cheng Hughes and David Xi-Ken Astor, are fully ordained American Pragmatic Buddhist monks with Chinese and Japanese oriented training.
I, Wayne (Ren Cheng) Hughes was ordained a Cleric in the Order of Pragmatic Buddhists, in May 2009, in St. Louis, MO, by Dr. Jim Eubanks Sensei, Abbot of the Order of Pragmatic Buddhists. I was honored to perform the duties of deshi, otomo, Guest Prefect, and to lead the St. Louis Chapter of the Center for Pragmatic Buddhism (CPB).
I, David (Xi Ken) Astor, was ordained a Cleric in the Order of Pragmatic Buddhists (OPB), in May 2010, at the Place of Peace Temple at Furman University, in Greenville, SC, by Dr. Jim Eubanks Sensei, Abbot of the Order of Pragmatic Buddhists. My focus is now the Order of Engaged Buddhists, an order dedicated to training inter-spiritual monastics.
We are both deeply honored to recognize the Venerable Dr. Jim Eubanks Sensei as our root Buddhist teacher.
