Bio
Hello! I’m Erin, a wife, mom of 4 beautiful kids, and longtime health enthusiast. I am on a mission to help guide you right where you are to your best health- inside and out. I am currently half way through my IIN education and am ready to take clients.
My story-
I was the kid who was always sick and on antibiotics. I developed a lot of gut issues, severe cystic acne, an eating disorder, migraines, as well as bi-polar depression and anxiety in my teens. In my early twenties, I was diagnosed with arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic migraines, hormone imbalance, IBS, and sent home with pills that were supposed to just help me get through each day.
In 2006 shortly after the birth of my second child, I developed a uterine infection that set off a chain reaction in my body. Long story short, I was desperate for help so I started researching more holistic care and started seeing a Chiropractor and Integrative doctor.
By cutting out sugar, gluten, and dairy I saw immediate results. My migraines only came 1-2x’s a month, skin was clearing, and my gut was happier… for a while. After the birth of my last child in 2009 a lot of my symptoms came back with a vengeance.
In 2006 was introduced to the idea of food as medicine, however I wasn’t ready. It was all so overwhelming at the time. Honestly I also think I wanted a pill or quick fix.
In 2010 desperate for change I bit the bullet and started removing foods from my diet left and right. It helped but with no one to guide me I gave into temptation A LOT.
Early 2011 I was introduced to the GAPS diet and jumped in. It was hard but slowly I started seeing the inflammation decrease. I had other issues that persisted but now understood there wasn’t an instant cure. But in fall of 2011 I developed colon bleeding and ulcers which landed me in the hospital for a week. The GI was ready to diagnose me with UC but I told him not until next time (if there ever was a next time) he could diagnose me then. I went home and was even more dedicated to healing my leaky gut. It was around this time I was diagnosed with celiac.
2011-2012, while my gut was healing I developed more wide spread body pain, severe hormone issues (at this time I was menstruating pretty heavily 20-25 days out of each month), hair loss, numbness and tingling throughout my body, migraines and memory loss became absolutely unbearable. I was barely surviving each day and I had 4 young children at home.
3 Naturopathic doctors, a new Integrative doctor, and one Western Blot later, I was diagnosed with Late Stage Lyme disease. I have been on a journey to kill the disease and heal by body of Lyme ever since. That journey is its own blog series.
I stayed on Gaps for 3.5 years. Then switched to Paleo and have been implementing more of a Paleo/Autoimmune Paleo protocol until recently when I’ve embraced a much more plant based diet.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that the road to healing is individual and not one size fits all. All our bodies are different, our lives are all very different, and we should be sensitive, patient and flexible in our methods.
Healing is not just physical its emotional, spiritual, and there is a social component as well.
I feel like God has put me on this earth to share my experiences, and to encourage, empower, and support you into living the most healthy and free life.
