Eve’s work explores the intersection of media and spaces. In her present exhibition she considers how the studio and the exhibition spaces present as collections of visual responses to both the everyday and the exterior of the self, whilst also hinting at displays of interiority.
Each of Eve’s works embodies a reaction to a particular moment in time, to places and contexts where visual references to patterns and surfaces were discovered. Eve explores questions of our spatio-temporal identities and how they are developed and changed through chance encounters, asking questions about temporality and presence. Of continuing importance to Eve’s practice are texts she encountered on her MA at WSA, such as John Dewey’s Art as Experience and How We Think; Allan Kaprow’s Essays on the Blurring of Art and Life; the writings of Yve Lomax; and Fré Ilgen’s work on art, science and philosophy and their connections.
Eve Dawson is a Hampshire-based visual artist working in both a variety of media and at the intersection of mediums. In 2010 Eve was the recipient of the Stephen Heffer Memorial Scholarship enabling her to undertake the MA in Fine Art at Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton. Following completion of the Masters course, Eve was invited to join 15 other artists, designers and at 'The Sorting Office' studios, which is part of Creative Eastleigh and the Recreate Project.
