Bio
This is the age of mental health awareness. The age of “Don’t ask, don’t tell” is dead, (unless you are in any branch of the military.) Now, more than ever, its crutial to be up front and honest about our feelings, and mental health issues, for there are many! Attention Deficit Disorder, a learning disorder affecting the central nervous system as well as cognitive ability, is one of the least understood, yet most over medicated disorders in The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders. According to Psychologytoday.com, ADD can be comobid with several mental disorders, such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder or Mania. Social mental disorders are the most commonly diagnosed in the world, because they occur suddenly, can be diagnosed in children, and often stay with the person through adulthood, causing additional disorders and health complications.
The aim of this blog is to help you, the reader, understand and hopefully identify symptoms of ADD, ADHD or Adult ADD in those from your social circle, or potentially in yourself. But it goes so much further than that. This blog will provide spiritual advice, in depth research, and interactive commentary from one who has lived with the disorder for their entire lives, both with and without the use of medication.
I am not a doctor or psychiatrist, and I am not qualified to diagnose, treat or perscribe medication for those who suspect they or someone they love are dealing with the symptoms outlined in this blog. If you feel you or someone you know is suffering from a mental disorder or is mentally unstable in any way, PLEASE CONSULT A LICENSED PHYSICIAN for a CLEAR and CONCISE diagnosis.
In the meantime, I hope to build on my writing skills, educate, and hopefully entertain you, as I give you a day in the life of one with ADD. Enjoy!
