Bio
I was an addict for almost 10 years...all through my 20's. I used drugs to hide my emotions because I could not handling "feeling". When I was 27 my mom, who was my best friend, passed away from cancer. I used drugs to hide my pain and after I got clean in 2015 I had to not only learn how to control my emotions and feel again, but I also had to deal with my feelings with my moms passing.
Life throws at you so many obstacles. I want to share and hope to be open and honest as I can. You are not alone.
I worked as a peer/rehab specialist for almost 4 years to help those suffering from mental illness and/or substance abuse. While working, I went back to school and graduated the Addiction Studies Program at MATC and will be getting my SAC-IT (Substance Abuse Counselor). I now work currently for a company called ARC Community Resources as a case manager and substance abuse counselor.
See, I am a provider, but I also have co-occurring disorders
