Bio
My name is Leah W. Wilson from the south east corner of British Columbia Canada. As an established semi professional artist with an education in painting, illustration, and sculpture, over 20 years experience creating and exhibiting, I always drew a line in the sand between my fine art works and my love for crafting - then.... I found felting natural wool fibers about three years ago - at first more of a craft I enjoyed - recently after having a deer jump into my car while I was driving - injuring my shoulder - painting with acrylics had to take a break for the pain has been a curtain I could not get my brush through. In the void felting came to the fore-ground of my creative ambitions - at first creating and fine tuning my skills with a variety of 3D articles such as bowls, decorations, mobiles, mats, and play scenes... then one day I made some Gnomes, and suddenly I was very busy as everyone wanted them, even Santa for the children of the East Shore of Kootenay Lake as the little gift he would give them at the community Christmas party. Endorsed by Santa, how can I deny the Gnomes their Amazing gift to the world. This new sculptural medium gives me great joy, as each takes a considerable amount of time to create, giving me focus and inspiration towards new works in a new medium.
