Bio
I’ve worked with computers since they were programmed via punched cards and took up entire rooms. I’ve programmed databases in COBOL. I’ve been developing and administering websites since 1999. I’m fluent in all the acronyms: HTML, CSS, PHP, etc… I was on the team that built the first website for Fort Stewart, Georgia, around 2002 — a cemetery database I programmed for the web is still on the site today. I spent my last 4 years as an Army civilian working in web security.
Since 2014 I’ve had steady work with Site Geeks, the company I founded in 2013 to build and maintain WordPress sites for small businesses and non-profits. In addition to WordPress development and consulting at Site Geeks, I've contracted with WebSharks, SmashBalloon, Code Cabin, and wpXPRESS over the years as a developer, technical writer, and support specialist. In May 2020, Tevya Washburn, the founder of wpXPRESS passed away suddenly and on 1 July 2020 I purchased wpXPRESS from his widow. We're continuing the Site Geeks' mission of taking care of websites so their owners can take care of business guided by Tevya's guiding principles of kindness and extreme ownership.
