A warm little corner of my Greek heritage 🌿
Hi, I’m Sophie! I grew up in New York, raised by Greek parents, and let me tell you, that came with its own set of challenges. But one thing that never wavered was the comfort of food. The aromas from my mother’s kitchen always had a way of pulling me back to Greece.
My mother is an incredible cook. Our home was constantly filled with the scent of something simmering, roasted veggies, herbs, lemon, and olive oil. That smell of “home.” Fast food was a once-a-week treat (a major event for me and my brother!). But otherwise, we grew up on home-cooked meals that told stories of tradition, resilience, and love.
As a teenager, I wasn't exactly running to the kitchen. I was more into music, magazines, and catching my breath after school. I’d occasionally glance at my mom’s handwritten recipes, not out of interest in cooking, but curiosity. I had no idea those little glances would eventually spark something bigger.
One summer, everything shifted. I wandered into a bookstore and picked up a cooking magazine on a whim. That was the start of it. What began as a casual hobby became a true passion for cooking, baking, and exploring the beautiful world of Greek and Mediterranean cuisine.
From experimenting with spices and oils to chasing the scents of childhood favorites, this journey has been deeply personal and endlessly inspiring. Cooking for me isn’t just about food,. It’s about connection, memory, and joy.
So, whether you’re here to explore Greek flavors, try something new, or simply get dinner on the table without overcomplicating things, welcome. I’m so happy you’re here.
Let’s cook something together.
Sophie
