Bio
My adventure started on the morning of New Years Eve 1991. Like their first daughter, they thought I would be perfect and healthy, little did they know what was in store for them. Just a few days after I had been sent home from the hospital, they found themselves taking me right back and the news they were about to receive would forever change their life. I was diagnosed with a rare lung disease called Cystic Fibrosis- the number one genetic killer of children and young adults across the United States. My doctor told my parents I would only live to be 18 years old, if that. I would never have a "normal" childhood (what is exactly normal these days?) and I would never lead a "normal" life.
Now here I am twenty-seven years later, with a bachelors degree from Texas Tech University in Restaurant and Hotel Management (which I don't use, who really uses their degrees?) Living with CF has taught me to cherish every day and every breathe. Don't take your life or anyone in it for granted, and do whatever makes you happy, no matter what others think. I hope you enjoy reading about how I live my life with CF!
