Bio
I started competing in triathlons in 1984 after four years of running. I was always interested in fitness and started running everyday after I graduated from college and started my teaching career. I was pretty inspired by a popular book at the time, Jim Fixx's - The Complete Book of Running published in 1977. As a child, I had had swim lessons and would ride my bike a lot, so the idea of doing a triathlon someday was always in my head as I got more serious about running and racing. Finally in the summer of '84, I did a few laps in a pool and worked up to the distance of a local sprint triathlon and took the plunge.
