Bio
I'm a writer and cook, and currently a part-time librarian. I published a food column for 10 years, and was a magazine editor for a couple. I have writerly degrees in English, German, and Linguistics. I taught non-fiction writing for 30 years, was a professional cook for a few, lived in Europe for a couple. I'm a native New Orleanian of Italian extraction. This was critical to my sensibility today since I grew up believing that ordering a 'wop salad' from my neighborhood Italian restaurant, and eating turkey gumbo on Thanksgiving was normal. I believe that Julia Child will come again to judge the living profiteroles and the dead ratatouille.
