Bio
Celebrated New York City photographer Heather Swanson is renowned for her photographs of such celebrities as Drew Carey, singer/actress Alanis Morissette, the American Chopper boys, supermodel Petra Nemcova, super chefs like New York City’s own Marcus Samuelsson, NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and many more. Her dynamic shots of musician Shane MacGowan have appeared in several newspapers and magazines across the world.
Heather's amazing career that began as a hobby of shooting her friends, quickly became a portfolio of spectacular photographs taken across the spectrum of all New York City has to offer. Her work today appears on television, in magazines, in national advertising campaigns, on book covers, in galleries, and on calendars.
Her celebrity photographs and prestigious clients also include Dennis Farina from Law & Order, Alanis Morrissette for Oprah’s Oxygen Channel, spokes models Frederick van der Wal & Karen Duffy, Doug Wilson from Trading Spaces, Clinton Kelly and Stacy London from What Not to Wear, Rabbi Shmuley, Amy and Matt Roloff from Little People Big World, and Richard Davis from Flip this House.
And Heather is rapidly becoming New York City's top "Calendar Girl" having just recently added another sexy "All For The Ride" calendar featuring "biker babes" to a collection that includes a calendar series for Barnes & Noble. Other calendar titles include New York City, San Francisco and The Girls of Red Rock.
Striking book covers and interior photographs have enlivened the works of authors Barry Crimmins (political comedian) - www.barrycrimmins.com - and O.Kay Jackson's Then They All Got Naked - www.okayjackson.com.
Heather’s signature project is a photo series that reinvents the iconic Vargas Girl style of pin-ups, using a more modern diversity and sensuality. These photographs and others have been exhibited at New York gallery spaces The Cutting Room, B’lo, Suite, Enve and The Half King. They are presently on display at the fashionable Enve Spa in the East Village. Both the Oxygen Channel and NBC/Mun2’s The Roof televised segments on the collection and its opening party. The show Daily Candy, which introduces the hottest cult products, featured Heather with purses she designed and adorned with her pin-ups.
Heather's work appears in publications as diverse as New York Magazine, Ramp Magazine, The London Sunday Times, Irish Connections Magazine, BMG Music Magazine, 411, and Timeout New York. A selection of photographs capturing Heather's passion for New York City scenes have been featured in Ireland’s Ulster Tatler Magazine.
With a client list of artists, authors and celebrities from the Oxygen Network, the History Channel, A& E Entertainment, the Discovery Channel, BBC, Sony, WNYC Radio, and many more, Heather's Swanson's one time hobby has today become a classic, and still-rocketing, New York City success story.
