Bio
Since the mid-1980s Scattergood-Moore has concentrated on creating large charcoal drawings and conceptual art projects. He has worked for artists' rights and housing issues and was a founding member of the Waltham Mills Artists Association and the Newton Artists Housing Partnership. In 1988, the partnership purchased the former elementary school, Claflin School, from the City of Newton, and developed the vacant building; and repurposing it into permanent live/work space for visual artists.
He has served on the Newton Arts Center Board of Directors and was appointed visual arts representative to the City of Newton Cultural Council, which he chaired from 2002-2004. Scattergood-Moore has an extensive record of solo and group exhibitions; he has participated in over eighty-five invitational and/or juried exhibitions. His drawings and paintings are included in numerous private collections across the United States.
Scattergood-Moore received three fellowships from the the Massachusetts Council for the Arts and was nominated for the prestigious national Awards in the Visual Arts Program.
