Bio
The concept of speaking in tongues is a great metaphor for my life. I speak one language (or try to) as the mother of three young daughters, sometimes resorting to automatic speech (turn that down! pick that up!) like the best of the truly faithful...or is it truly brainless? I can't remember. I also try to shield said daughters--The Lawyer, the eldest, The Free Spirit, the middle, and The Diva, the youngest-- from the frequent eruptions of my other native tongue, "Sailor on Shore Leave," Then there's the truly mad babble I share with my husband and close friends, the kinetic language I share with our two dogs and my eternal lover/opponent The Road, and the academic discourse that used to be my lingua franca when I lived in the Land of Comparative Literature and which now occasionally comes in handy for my work as an academic editor. I like to think this blog is a place where I can just let all of these voices rip and be myself.
