Bio
Carlos Batara is an immigration attorney with five offices in Southern California. His passion for defending immigrants is an outgrowth of his multicultural heritage. His father emigrated from the Philippines. His mother, born in New Mexico, brought Mexican and Spanish roots to his upbringing.
Carlos' parents worked low wage jobs - typical of many immigrants. His father was a farm worker for many years, moving from one crop to another as the seasons changed. In his later years, Carlos' father worked as a dishwasher and kitchen helper. His mother worked at a factory before becoming a housemaid and cook for various families in the Point Loma and La Jolla areas of San Diego County.
They never owned a car - traveling by bus to and from work. They never complained, always giving their best for their employers, their family, and their community. They taught Carlos to appreciate the vast opportunities provided by the United States.
Their love and support created a stable life for Carlos - laying a foundation for him to earn degrees from the University of Southern California and Harvard Law School. Today, he handles all types of immigration cases and specializes in immigration trials, appeals, and complex cases.
